Racking inspection training

Warehouse racking inspection is a good business practice when working with storage racking equipment and mezzanine floors.

What is Warehouse Racking Inspection?

What happens during an inspection is a visual check of all warehouse racking to ensure it is safe to use and secure. Inspections can be carried out by members from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or by an in-house SEMA Approved Rack Inspector (SARI), depending on your business and if you have an internal inspector.

Why is a Warehouse Racking Inspection Important?

It is recommended that a warehouse racking inspection is completed on an annual basis by an approved inspector. If you have an internal team, you may carry out your inspections on a regular basis to maintain the safety in the workplace for all employees.

The importance of warehouse racking inspections cannot be stressed enough. Not only is it a business obligation to comply with all laws and guidelines, but it has a core focus on ensuring safety.

Inspections are completed to ensure safety in the workplace/warehouse, to ensure all employees remain safe whilst at work, to reduce the risk of accidents due to warehouse racking issues and to highlight the quality of the storage/racking system you have in place.

Should you not comply with regular visual inspections and an annual racking inspection by an approved inspector, your business may be liable for an unforeseen accident caused by unsafe racking or storage equipment. This also applies where a business does not replace any damaged components that have been raised during an inspection.
